Sometimes A Turd In The Hand Ain’t So Bad

mantomanToday we were led on a journey through Philippians by Dave Crouse. Inspired by the content of Chuck Swindoll’s book Man to Man, our discussions this week were centered around family and parenting. We analyzed several difficult issues facing Christian parents in modern society. We had a lot of fun discussing the effects of secular TV shows, movies, and even other parents on our children. To illustrate how Satan uses things we want to entice us to sin, Dave told an amusing anecdote about a turd and a $100 bill that got everyone in the room laughing.

Dave wrapped up the discussion by taking us on a tour of scripture designed to show us that our greatest call is to please God. He argued that all the other things that we are expected to do including spreading the gospel and raising our family need to be done to glorify God and for no other reason. If we follow God’s direction and seek to glorify Him in all we do, the rest will work itself out.

Also to all who are interested, Cheney Faith Center has graciously donated over 100 chairs to The Heights Church Plant. Members of our team will be meeting there after the last service on Sunday April 28th 2013 to pick up the chairs and to help do some demolition work on their stage in preparation for the construction of the new Cheney Faith Center building.
