Part 1 Boiling point
Big Idea: What do we do when we feel our temperature rising?
Main Point: Check yourself
Prophetic Thought: We all get frustrated. We all feel anger. However, when those emotions are left unchecked, they can begin to shape how we speak, act, and treat the people around us. That is not the life God has called us to live. Together, we will explore what God says about anger and learn how to respond in a manner that reflects His heart. We will learn how to recognize when frustration begins to rise, how to prevent anger from taking root, and how to speak with gentleness even when it is challenging.
Application:
The first step in this process, checking ourselves, is asking, "Who's in control?" Are we in control, or are we losing control? Our goal is to step back so we don't step into a moment that causes hurt. When we're angry, we often want someone else to feel something—to feel our frustration or understand what they did. But in reality, our anger is more about what we're feeling on the inside. The best way to prevent a painful confrontation is to recognize when that anger is growing and take a step back before it takes control.
