Part 5 - James 1:12-13
Big idea: Temptation Is Not the Same as testing.
Main Point: Tipping point- testing proves our faith, but temptation probes Our Weakness.
Prophetic Thought: Hard seasons can cause us to question God’s character. This message draws an important distinction between testing that strengthens us and temptation that pulls us toward harm. God does not lure us toward destruction. He walks with us toward life. Endurance is not about gritting our teeth and pushing through. It is about trusting God’s goodness in difficult circumstances and choosing faith over blame when things feel unfair.
Application: The goal is to recognize the temptation before you hit the tipping point. We have to understand that testing proves our faith, but temptation probes our weakness. Even Jesus faced this in the wilderness, where he was pressured to take the Easy Way of comfort, the Power Way of control, and the Shortcut Way of pride. We face those same choices every day. Sometimes we are prepared, and we choose peace, but other times we get caught off guard and wrapped up in the moment. We have to learn our own tipping points—the specific moments where we are most likely to slide into old habits—so we can lean on God’s strength before we fall.
